How to Care for Your Fresh Flowers

When your beautiful blooms arrive, a little care goes a long way to keep them looking their best. Follow these simple steps to help your flowers stay fresh, vibrant, and long-lasting.

  1. Unwrap with Care
Gently remove all outer packaging. If you've received a hand-tied bouquet, you can leave the string or tie in place — it’s designed to keep your arrangement looking perfect.

  2. Choose a Clean Vase
Grab a vase and give it a good wash with warm, soapy water. Bacteria is the enemy of fresh flowers, so start clean!

  3. Fill with Fresh Water
Fill your vase about two-thirds full with fresh, cool water. Add the flower food provided — it helps nourish the blooms and slows bacterial growth.

  4. Trim the Stems
Using sharp scissors or garden shears, cut about 2cm off each stem at a 45° angle. This increases the surface area for water absorption.

  5. Remove Lower Leaves
Any leaves that would sit below the waterline should be removed. This keeps the water clearer for longer and prevents bacteria.

  6. Position Wisely
Display your flowers in a cool spot, away from direct sunlight, heat sources (like radiators), or cold drafts. Avoid placing them near ripening fruit, which releases ethylene gas that can shorten bloom life.

  7. Change the Water Every 2–3 Days
Refresh the water and give the stems another quick trim to help your flowers stay hydrated and perky.
